Continuity in Architecture runs programmes for the design of new buildings and public spaces within the existing urban environment. The emphasis is on the importance of place and the idea that design of architecture can be influenced by the experience and analysis of particular situations. This interpretation of place can provide a contemporary layer of archaeology within the continuity of the evolving city.

Both the Hasselt University Faculty of Law and Kowloon Walled City functioned as a “City within a City”. The Hasselt University was an enclosure to the city, whereas the Kowloon Walled City was a piece architecture that happened in a specific time and space. This sparked the beginning of the research.
